The Islamic countries equivalent of the Olympic games (which had been scheduled for March 2010 in Tehran) had to be called off because of disputes between Iran and some Arab nations. The basis of the dispute? Iran prepared a flag to fly mentioning the "Persian Gulf." Other Arab States insist on calling that body of water the "Arabian Gulf." The author of this piece proceeds from that dispute to discuss the difficult various Islamic States have now and have had in the past with getting along with each other.
