Here is some cogent analysis about the whys and wherefores of Scott Brown's victory in the Massachusetts Senate race. It seem that political issues had a lot to do with it!

Here is one view on why GOP candidate Scott Brown won the "Ted Kennedy seat" in the U.S. Senate. It chooses to overlook the substantive concerns voters expressed about the threat of terror (made more acute by the Christmas day bomb attempt on Northwest Airlines) and Obamacare.

That Massachusetts Senate Race: Yes, I Was Wrong

Well folks, I was wrong in predicting a victory in the Senate race for Coakely.  But I am not disheartened because I do not believe all of the media hype about how the loss of one Senate seat will derail health care legislation and other proposed legislation.  I do think it would be just too smarmy if the State of Massachusetts imposed some long delay on certifying the result of the election to keep Brown from being seated for months.  I am not going to badmouth the leaders of Massachusetts, I just hope they don't do that.  It is normal for any (I should say either) party holding the White House and a majority in Congress to lose seats in Congress at the two year mid-term election mark (which will come up in November).  The vote for Brown is, in my view just a reflection of that normal trend.

That Massachusetts Senate Race

The Coakley versus Brown Senate race is getting a lot of buzz which tells me Brown must have a chance.  Still, I predict Coakley will pull it out.  We will know (late) tomorrow night whether I am right.  She will win despite how a majority of Massachusetts voters feel about proposed federal healtch care.Politics from the Hal Maas

More on the NFL

I should know better by now that I should not try to predict the NFL playoffs.  Even so, I will give in to the temptation and predict the Saints will beat Minnesota by at least ten and Indy will defeat the Jets (barely).  The wild card (pardon the pun) is whether the Jets D (best in the NFL) can stop the Colts exciting but one dimensional offense.  The Colt sometimes maligned D showed up against the Ravens hard running offense.  Will the Colts D show up against the Jets.  I believe they will.
